Dark Light
Starcraft 2 – PC

Well now, here we have a treat from the creators of one of the largest MMOs to ever hit the PC. Fr0m the creators of World of Warcraft come the sequel to the most played RTS in Asia; Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty.

Now here its a bit different from the original in that it is almost solely Terran campaign missions. I will not give away any details of how it ends, but the story starts from where the original left off with the Queen of Blades and her army are working their way to destroy the universe and you take control of Jim Raynor and proceed to take on the Queen of Blades and Mengsk. With added units, abilities and maps I had great fun playing as just Terran for the most part, myself being a Protoss jockey. The new upgrades system for the units add control to how well which units do versus their Zerg or Protoss counter parts. The story is a great continuation of the previous Starcraft and Expansion. Still 10 years in the making, it could have been a bit longer and more in depth with the Terran background fluff. Playability is east to learn and isnt a harsh learning curve for anyone that has played the original. Even for those new to the Starcraft line will not have a hard time what crushes Zerg and what obliterates Protoss.

Story: 8/10

Gameplay: 8/10

The graphics, well being in the age of SLI and quad core processors, are a vast improvement to the originals, but I still think that after more than 10 years it could’ve been a little bit more detailed. Running a single 260GTX and dual core CPU, I ran the game at max settings and it never stuttered once. Making anyone with the new 5000 series from ATI or the 400 series from nVidia or even SLI 250 GTS, I would bet, would be sorely disappointed not being able to utilize the raw power from their system.  The voices of both the short videos and units are well done, and still comical.

Graphics: 7/10

Sound: 9/10

Overall I would highly recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of the Starcraft world and would implore you to buy it if you download it and like it. I have not tested the online Battle.net.

Overall Score: 8/10

One major con I wish to point out is that the Protoss and Zerg campaigns will be available as Expansions instead of being included in the original game, i.e. milking; A.K.A. Blizzard’s trademark.
